3D Printed Branding Iron Handle

·1 min

Tinkering in the garage after the kids are in bed - it was finally time to put a handle on this little branding iron.

I designed this small logo branding iron and had it 3D Printed out of metal at least 6 or 7 years ago. I’d always meant to attach a permanent handle, but had always just used a vice-grips.

After trying, and failing, to tap and thread the nub I modeled too short, I ended up having to tack weld it on. I’m not sure how strong the welds will be between a plain zinc-coated bolt and whatever kind of steel/bronze sintered mix the 3D Printed part is, but it seems to hold and be functional.
